Hard-boiled Eggs

Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • Eggs
  • Water

Instructions

  • Place the eggs in a single layer in a saucepan or pot.
  • Cover the eggs with water, making sure they are completely submerged by about an inch.
  • Place the pot on the stove over medium-high heat.
  • Bring the water to a boil.
  • Once the water reaches a rolling boil, turn off the heat and cover the pot with a lid.
  • Let the eggs sit in the hot water for about 9-12 minutes, depending on how well-done you prefer your yolks. 9 minutes will give you a slightly runny yolk, while 12 minutes will give you a fully set yolk.
  • After the eggs have cooked for your desired amount of time, use a slotted spoon to carefully transfer them to a bowl of ice water.
  • Allow the eggs to cool in the ice water for at least 5 minutes to stop the cooking process and make them easier to peel.
  • After the eggs have cooled, tap each egg gently on the countertop to crack the shell, then peel the shell off under running water.
  • Once the shells are removed, your hard-boiled eggs are ready to eat or use in your favorite recipe. Enjoy!
